Premier League: Manchester United Beat Chelsea 2-1 at Old Trafford

September 21, Sunday: Manchester United secured a crucial 2-1 win over Chelsea in the Premier League on Saturday night, in a match that had drama, goals, and red cards in abundance.

The match was off to a boisterous start with Chelsea’s goalkeeper Robert Sánchez being shown the marching orders in the 5th minute, leaving the visitors with 10 men. United wasted no time at all, and Bruno Fernandes capitalized on a beautiful pass from Dorgu in the 14th minute to put the hosts in the lead.

Casemiro doubled United’s advantage in the 37th minute and had United well in control. But the Brazilian first became a hero and then a villain during the first half when he received a second yellow card during stoppage time that had United reduced to 10 men as well.

Chelsea pushed hard in the second half and were rewarded when Trevoh Chalobah’s goal in the 80th minute gave them a consolation. The Blues, despite throwing all the pressure at them late in the game, were unable to get the equalizer, and United rode into town with vital three points.

The victory lifts Manchester United into position 10 on the standings with 7 points from 5 games, while Chelsea remain at position 6 with 8 points from an equal number of games.
