Former President Bhandari stresses IT friendly education system

Jhapa, June 7: Former President Bidya Devi Bhandari has said achieving sustainable economic prosperity should be our shared goal to transform living standards of the people.

Inaugurating the provincial level science and technology exhibition organized by the CPN (UML) Koshi Province’s Science and Technology Department in Birtamod, she emphasized the need to work in a way to make the people realize the change.

Former President Bhandari said, “Our main goal now is to achieve sustainable economic prosperity that brings direct and positive changes in the living standards of the people. It is to build a socialism-oriented economy envisioned by the Constitution.”

The former Head of the State said science and technology is essential for achieving the national aspiration of ‘Prosperous Nepal: Happy Nepali’.

She further stressed on properly utilizing the knowledge, skills, and experience of experts in this field by placing special emphasis on science, technology, and mathematics education on behalf of the state.

“It is the duty of the State to equip educational institutions – from schools to higher education providing institutions with sufficient resources, laboratories, skilled teachers, and technical staffs,” she noted.

The three-day exhibition is taking place on the premises of Devi Secondary School in Birtamod. More than 70 schools from 12 districts of Koshi Province are participating in the event.

Chief of the Department of Science and Technology, Ganesh Pokhrel, informed that the schools bearing first, second and third position in the competition will be provided with cash prizes of Rs. 400,000, Rs. 300,000 and Rs. 200,000, respectively.
