Agency, April 13: A sensational innings from opener Abhishek Sharma powered Sunrisers Hyderabad to a stunning victory in the Indian Premier League (IPL). In a high-scoring clash on Saturday evening, Hyderabad chased down a mammoth target to defeat Punjab Kings by 8 wickets.
Chasing a daunting 246-run target, Hyderabad pulled off the chase in just 18.3 overs, finishing with 247 runs for the loss of only two wickets. Abhishek Sharma was the star of the night, smashing a breathtaking 141 runs off just 55 deliveries, including 14 fours and 10 sixes.
Travis Head added a quickfire 66, while Heinrich Klaasen chipped in with 21 and Ishan Kishan remained unbeaten on 9. For Punjab, Arshdeep Singh and Yuzvendra Chahal picked up a wicket each.
Earlier, after winning the toss and opting to bat first at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad, Punjab Kings posted a massive 245/6 in their 20 overs. Captain Shreyas Iyer led the charge with a brilliant 82, supported by Prabhsimran Singh (42), Priyansh Arya (36), Marcus Stoinis (34), and Nehal Wadhera (27).
For Hyderabad, Harshal Patel starred with the ball, taking 4 wickets, while Ishan Malinga claimed 2.
With this victory, Sunrisers Hyderabad moved up to eighth place in the points table with 4 points from 6 matches. Punjab Kings, who have played one match fewer, sit in sixth place with 6 points.
