Kathmandu, Feb 3: The talks team formed by Ministry of Home Affairs to address the disputes surrounding construction of a cable car in Pathivara Temple (Mukkumlung) area in Taplejung district has initiated dialogues to resolve the conflicting issues from Monday.
The team held talks with relevant agencies and protesting side in a bid to seek resolution to the ongoing dispute.
“We have initiated dialogues with the representatives of the protesting parties in Kathmandu, preliminary discussion is underway,” said Prem Prasad Bhattarai, coordinator of the government-led talk team.
The Ministry on last Saturday had formed the team in coordination of Joint-Secretary Bhattarai while the agitating parties too had formed a facilitation team comprising representatives from Mukkulung (Pathivara) Temple patronage organizations and political parties.
A press statement released by the protesting parties notified that they too have formed a team led by scholar Amar Tumyahang.
It may be noted that local residents have been opposing the construction of a cable car line that is being built from Kaflepati to the scared Temple dedicated to Goddess Pathivara. The protestors have claimed that the construction spurred environment conversation concerns and encroachment on indigenous cultures.
