Kathmandu, Dec 20: The government has confirmed the reappear of monkeypox (Mpox) in the country.
According to the Ministry of Health and Population, a 36-year-old man from Tanahum district has tested positive for the infection.
The man, who returned from Saudi Arabia on Thursday, underwent a lab test at the National Public Health Laboratory Teku, said Ministry spokesperson Dr. Prakash Budhathoki.
He is currently receiving medical care in isolation at the Shukraraj Tropical and Infectious Disease Hospital, and his condition is out of threat/
Nepal recorded its first case of Mpox in June 2023, involving a foreign national who arrived in the country. Following the detection of this new case, the government has instructed relevant authorities to set up health desks at Tribhuvan International Airport and other transit points to prevent further spread of the infection.
