Nepal’s trade and investment promotion event held in Chengdu

KATHMANDU, July 12: The Consulate General of Nepal in China’s Chengdu organized “Trade and Investment Promotion Dialogue’ in Chengdu on Thursday.

The event saw the presence of Li Huaiqiang, Deputy Director General of Sichuan Foreign Affairs Office, Wu Ge, Deputy Director General from Sichuan Provincial Department of Commerce, representatives from SASAC Sichuan, CCPIT Sichuan, and Chengdu Municipal Bureau of Commerce, along with representatives of Chinese companies working in Nepal.

The investors, traders, and Nepali students in Chengdu city also attended the event, according to a press statement from the Consulate General of Nepal. Minister for Industry, Commerce, and Supply Damodar Bhandari addressed the dialogue through a video message.

On the occasion, issues about the trade and investment scenario and the policies of Nepal were shared with the Chinese business community. Speaking at the event, Li vowed to continue supporting Nepal in its developmental aspirations and sustained coordination among the provincial foreign affairs offices and the Consulate to foster more exchanges among the countries.

Likewise, Wu suggested that both sides should explore the possibilities in the sectors of clean energy and energy storage, digital service outsourcing, warehousing, and logistical supply chain hubs. Consul General Suresh Raut highlighted the priority areas for investment in Nepal, including green energy, infrastructure, and agricultural mechanization.

The representatives from Dongfeng Electrics, Sichuan Energy Development Group, Tongwei Group, Sichuan ShuDao Investment Group, Jinhui Pharmaceutical Company, and Xiamen Chatu Trading also attended the programme.
