10 writ petitions filed in Supreme Court against HoR dissolution

Kathmandu, Oct 15: Ten writ petitions have been filed in the Supreme Court today against the dissolution of the House of Representatives. Supreme Court spokesperson Arjun Prasad Koirala shared that the writ petitions have been scheduled for hearing for October 29.

The 10 writ petitions filed on Tuesday have sought a mandamus order, among others to annul the appointment of the Prime Minister, annul the dissolution of Parliament, and reinstate the Parliament. The petitions will be heard before the Constitutional Bench of the apex court.

Writ petitions against the dissolution of the House of Representatives have been filed after registration of writ petitions and hearings began at the Supreme Court on Tuesday, Since the apex court was burnt down during the Gen-Z protest on September 9, the court has suspended all regular activities except habeas corpus.

The writ petitions were filed by Advocates Dr Premraj Silwal, Yubaraj Poudel, Advocate Kirtinath Sharma Poudel, Ayush Badal, Maqbul Miyan, Khadga Bahadur Shah, Dambar Prasad Siwakoti, Dal Bahadur Dhami, Prakash Bhujel and Bipin Dhakal.
